Vwettye B. Morton was born in Monroe, LA, December 29, 1928 and passed away October 25, 1999.
She attended Neville High School in Monroe, LA, where "Pee Wee", as she was nicknamed, was elected a school beauty. Vettye was a Homecoming Maid for two years, as well as cheerleader in high school and college.
During her two years at Louisiana Polytechnic Institute in Ruston, LA, she was a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority.
Vettye moved to Shreveport, LA in 1947 and later married in 1950.
She also held the honor of being the first Queen of the Holiday in Dixie. After moving to Oklahoma City in 1967, her social involvement continued with memberships to Quail Creek country Cluhb, Chaine de Rotisserie, and Gaillardia Country Club.
She loved being with her many friends at various activities including Mah jongg, the Sewing Club, the "Out to Lunch Bunch", and bridge group.
Vettye was also a longtime member of St. Lukes Uniuted Methodist church.
Throughout her life, she always put the needs of others before her own, and Vettye's family remembers her as a loving mother, grandmother, devoted wife and a gifted and gracious hostess.
Wonderful memories of her gentle spirit will live in the hearts of her family and many friends.
