George married Phyllis Louise Nicholson, daughter of Harold Forbes Nicholson and Anne Archibald Mccoll Stewart, in 1946.

They bore and raised four beautiful children and shared the tragedy of losing two, Dale and Carol, far too soon in life. Though remaining friends, the marriage ended in divorce and both remarried. (Phyllis Louise Nicholson was born on 21 Nov 1926 in Salem, MA.)

George late in life published his first book of poetry and is, as of Oct of 2008, thanks to the assistance of his daughter, Cynthia, near publication of his second book. Both are rather miraculous as he is legally blind!
