Eliza Jane ¹

  General Notes:

As I, Colleen Cahoon, an unequivocal descendant of Eliza Jane, make this entry, I am woeful to report that no one known living today seems to know Eliza's maiden name.

Regarding the 1860 Census, I do not know for sure if the sighting of an Eliza, wife of Clements, in 1860 is my Eliza Jane, but I do believe it is because:

1. They are in the right location.
2. The wife's name is Eliza and she is referenced as born in Maryland.
3. The husband's surname is Clements and his given name is Alexander.
4. The neighbor is surely a brother to Alexander and his name is Benjamin Clements.
5. My Eliza Jane did have a son, given name Benjamin Alexander... surname Clements born 1963.

While I am not sure as to what exactly happened, regarding this union, I do know the following.

Eliza Jane is the mother of my maternal Great Grandfather, Benjamin A. Clements, father of George Cravin Clements and grandfather to my mother, Elizabeth A. Clements.

Eliza Jane ( maiden name unknown) Clements Huntt is my maternal Great-Great-Grandmother.

I also know with certainy that Eliza Jane married George A. Huntt, presumeably prior to the birth of their son, Harry Huntt, born in 1871.

Benjamin and Harry's relationship, as half-brothers is suggested in the early 1870 Maryland Census, though the real validity is reflected in the fact that they share a burial plot, along with Eliza Jane, their mother, and George A. Huntt, Harry's father, and George C. Clements, the son of Benjamin and my maternal Grandfather.

Eliza married Alexander Clements, son of (Maybe Benjamin) Clements and Sophia, before 1860.¹ (Alexander Clements was born about 1835 in Washington, D.C., MD ².)

Eliza next married George A. Huntt between 1864 and 1870 in , , MD. (George A. Huntt was born about 1820.)
