Goodbye my friend of childhood years,
I will remember you with joy and make few the tears.
Playing cowboys, doctor or house together,
inside and out, regardless of weather.
I will remember those first kisses,
those tentative touches and childhood wishes.
To you I pledged eternal friendship,
in those days when we two children were joined at the hip.
Your family was mine and mine was yours,
we never had to knock on the other ones doors.
I will always remember that terrible night,
that New Year's Eve just didn't turn out right.
I ran to your home, with blood pouring down,
for you and your mother to please, please come!!
The car hit a phone pole and everyone's hurt,
you held me close to you, not worried about your shirt.
The years came between us as they often will,
but always my special friend I will love you still.
Sweet dreams my dear friend.
