A Dad's Legacy

Every dad should leave a legacy
For the children he has sired.
No, it isn't land or money,
It's a man to be admired.
For your children
It begins to build at childhood.
A hero for their lives,
And they will remember when, there, a giant stood.
No you're not a giant,
You're just a common man.
But it's how you handled life,
And your goodness through your span.
What you are and what you've done
Is imbedded in an offspring's mind.
Character and deeds performed,
Are what they would like to find.
So if you leave nothing else
To endear your children's memory,
Leave that strong and kindly giant
In their heart and mind, their library. ~ George C. Clements
