Remimisce In Metaphor

Have I reached a point of no return?
I sit and wonder, and yes, I yearn
Of days gone by.
Sometimes bringing a tear to my eye.
I tried so hard so long ago
To capture my dream, and when I did
I kept it awhile and cherished it so.
But I didn't hold tight
To the wheel of my ship.
The winds picked up
From out on the sea,
And the rocks came quick
On the side to the lee.
If only I'd grasped the value of wealth
That I had acquired, but not by myself.
The world like the sea
Knows not of repent,
Or precious time
That was never spent.
Take with you along the way,
What you must know
And I cannot say.
Follow the wind
And shine in the sun,
Enjoy and be happy
For God's work has only begun. ~ George C. Clements
