Tip Top Of The Morning (for martha)

There once was a little girl
With tresses blonde and curley.
Never wanted to go to bed,
Never wanted to get up early.
Her dad use to serenade her
To get her out of bed,
And yes, to this day
The song is in her head.
"Tip top of the morning",
The words rang out each day,
And with a groan and moan
She'd be up and on her way.
She is number two
Of sisters that are three.
Neither end of the rainbow,
She is the center of all you see.
As she grew more beautiful,
A sailor came along.
He had a gift of talk,
But he didn't have the song.
Now they have their family
Of which they can be proud,
And every chance her father gets,
He'll call and sing her song aloud. ~ George C. Clements
